[edit] How to use OpenSim Made Easy

  • Run the installer
  • Execute OpenSim Made Easy from the shortcut on your desktop
  • Enter your login information in the login window then click "Connect"
  • The Region manager appears
  • Create regions, rename them, choose a location, and choose a location here http://92.243.4.36/app/map/
  • This location is given by 2 numbers. Choose an unoccupied spot and fill the corresponding coordinates.
  • Before starting, your network (firewall + router) must be configured.

Note : Each time you add a region you must reconfigure your network, either manually (use the Ports button to get your private IP address and ports),or automatically. If you check the "Automatic Config" checkbox, OSME will try to configure your firewall (you must have administrative rights) and your router using UPnP (it must be UPnP enabled). Have a look at the Router section below.

  • Click "Start Simulator" to start up your regions
  • If "Auto Configure" is checked, OSME will attempt to perform an automatic network configuration (see below).
  • When the network configuration is done, it will launch OpenSim.
  • If "Show Console" is checked, the OpenSim console will show up at start up. All console commands are on the OpenSimulator wiki.

[edit] User Interface

Numbers correspond to the interface controls on the snapshot :

  • 1 - Region Selector

Use this combo box to select the region you want to modify the settings for

  • 2 - "Create Region" button

Creates a new region

  • 3 - "Delete Selected Region" button

Deletes the region currently selected in the drop-down menu

  • 4 - Region name

You can choose the region name here and modify it at any time after selecting the region

  • 5 - Region Location

Use the X and Y location coordinates to choose your region location on the World Map.

  • 6 - "Start Simulator" button

Starts the simulator with all of the regions created.

  • 7 - Public Mode / Private Mode

Public Mode allows everybody to access your region.

Private Mode makes your regions run privately. Nobody else but you can access your regions but you can't access the rest of the grid.

Note : Some home routers are not NAT Loopback enabled, which is required to be able to TP inside your regions in Public Mode. If this is the case, run in Private mode to access and build on your regions. Here is a list of routers with the NAT Loopback feature.

  • 8 - "Ports" button

Opens a dialog box showing the port list to open on your firewall and router for TCP and UDP protocols.

  • 9 - "Show Console" and "Auto Configure"

If "Auto Configure" is checked, OSME will attempt to perform an automatic network configuration.

First, it will configure your Windows firewall if you have administrative powers on your account.

Second, it will try to forward your router ports automatically using UPnP, if your router is UPnP Enabled.

If "Show Console" is checked, the OpenSim console will show up at start up.

  • 10 - "Check Updates" button

Opens your internet browser to the updates webpage.

  • 11 - Simulator Status

This zone displays the simulator's current status.
